LEWISTON, Maine - Nov. 14, 2011 - Androscoggin Bank today announced it is currently accepting applications for the ABCommunity grant program. ABCommunity grants are provided for non-profit organizations that support community activities. Grant applications are reviewed on a bi-annual basis; to be considered in the current review cycle, applications must be received by email or mail by January 1. Applications received after this date will not be considered until July 2012.

The fifth exhibit, "Mobile Natura: Botanical iPhoneography," will feature the work of local artist Kimberly Post Rowe. Rowe's mobile photography work has been viewed in galleries from New England to California, and as far away as Madrid, Spain. She is also a published author and adjunct instructor at Southern Maine Community College, residing in Raymond, Maine.

The fourth exhibit, "Discovering Prints," will feature nationally and internationally acclaimed artists Leonard Baskin, Alison Hildreth, Haku Maki and Hideaki Kato, among others. The show will include various types of art prints including serigraphs, etchings, engravings, and woodblock prints, and will serve as an introduction to print-making, with wall panels along-side the artwork explaining the basics of each printing technique. The "Discovering Prints" showing will segue into an exhibit opening on September 16 at L/A Arts' Gallery 5 titled "Do You Want to See My Etchings?" that will feature prints created by local Maine artists.

The third exhibit, "Fourteen Encounters: Places of Power and Grace," will spotlight the work of Michael Reidy, lecturer and technical director of the Theater Department at Bates College. Reidy's exhibit, a collection of brilliant photography captured on a Holga toy camera, will be on display in the lobby of Androscoggin Bank's Lewiston branch from July 28 to August 23, 2011. A public reception to launch the exhibit will take place from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday, July 29.

Androscoggin Bank Continues Its Support of the Highly Successful Art Walk Lewiston Auburn

For the next Art Walk, Androscoggin Bank in cooperation with LA Arts will present "Versions of Reality," a collection featuring the artwork of Richard Field, Michael Ranucci and Murad Sayen. Once again, the show will be on display in the lobby of Androscoggin Bank's Lewiston branch from June 23 to July 26, 2011, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays. A public reception to launch the exhibit will take place from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, June 24. During the event, J. Dostie Jewelers in cooperation with Androscoggin Bank will present Three Point Trio - a three piece jazz ensemble to entertain and inspire the community. Three Point Trio will be playing in Androscoggin Bank's park, located between the bank and J. Dostie Jewelers.

LEWISTON, Maine - May 19, 2011 - Androscoggin Bank today announced the bank's participation in the inaugural Art Walk Lewiston Auburn, which will officially kick-off with a public reception on Friday, May 27 and will continue from May to September. The Art Walk, which will transform the downtown areas of Lewiston and Auburn into arts districts for one evening each month, is an independent grassroots endeavor by community members, artists, and local businesses who want to celebrate the extraordinary talent of visual artists in Lewiston, Auburn and around Maine. Androscoggin Bank's Lewiston branch at 30 Lisbon Street will host an art show in its lobby, transforming the bank location into a makeshift gallery for the community. The first show, "Fantastic Worlds," which spotlights local artists Roderick Dew and Kevin Callahan, will be on display from May 26 to June 21, 2011.

Debit Card Fraud in the News

A Maine Merchant recently announced publicly that a data breach has resulted in serious debit card fraud.

Some Androscoggin Bank customer's debit card numbers have been compromised. Many of those affected will be notified in writing that their cards have been reissued and can only be used with PIN numbers until the new card is activated.

Even if you don't get a letter and suspect your card has been compromised check your account frequently for unauthorized use and contact customer service at 1-800-966-9172.

Overdraft Rules Are Changing

Androscoggin Bank is teaming up with the Maine Merchants Association and the Maine Innkeepers Association to spread the word that recent federal banking regulation changes may impact the way you use your ATM/debit card.

Beginning August 15, 2010, Androscoggin Bank can no longer provide overdraft services on your everyday debit card purchases and ATM transactions. If you want this service, you will need to specifically request that it be continued on your account. Overdraft protection is an important safety net valued by many of our customers - offering peace of mind in case of an emergency.
